Last weekend, Radio Sausalito broadcast life from the City of Sausalito Community Garage Sale. It was a beautiful day and over 700 people showed up to buy and sell and trade. While people tuned in to our signal, the city set up a radio and speakers on top of a nearby building so that our broadcast could be heard by the entire sale.
Ruthann and Emma (from Gumbo) were on the air along with our engineer Leon Reid. Later in the day, DJ Dizzy Jones had her on-air debut and spun some tunes. A special thanks to the many listeners stopped by and thanked us for the great jazz and programming. It was a great day for everyone!

This is an unpaid position. Radio Sausalito is seeking a lover of Latin Jazz to join our staff and share the greatest in Latin Jazz with our listeners each week. As the host and producer of the show you’ll be responsible for creating the show’s identity, choosing the music, and introducing the songs. Acting as DJ, you’ll share the background of each piece and why it’s great music. Your radio program will be prerecorded and broadcast over Radio Sausalito. Shows will require some weekly production work and writing to complete. Writing and prep can be done from home. Training and recording are done at our Sausalito studio. Background check and one year commitment required. No prior radio experience needed! Marin residency will be preferred since that means you’ll be able to hear the results of your work on the air!
Perhaps you have always wanted to get into radio. Or someone you know listens to radio all the time and would make a great Latin Jazz host. Don’t be frustrated that there aren’t any small independent radio stations left in Marin because there are! For almost a decade, Radio Sausalito station has offered Marin residents the opportunity to get into radio and learn the art of broadcasting hands-on. This is a real radio station with real listeners and a county-wide footprint. Over the years, our volunteers have created award winning shows and shared their creative vision through the most intimate medium: radio, the medium of the mind. In fact three of our volunteers have graduated to professional radio careers after getting their start at Radio Sausalito!

Radio Sausalito teamed up with the famed George’s Nightclub in San Rafael for a live recording of the band Stompy Jones. Engineer Leon Reid and Founder Jonathan Westerling were there with a dizzying array of technology to capture the concert. Everything went great, and the music was fantastic. Thanks go out to house engineer Jamie Bridges and George’s owner Todd Ghanizadeh for helping to make the recording happen. We’re working on a ‘mixdown’ of the concert which will be finished soon. Listen to Radio Sausalito for announcements about when you can hear this concert on the air…
